Bayobab, a pan-African digital solutions provider, has joined forces with MTN Nigeria to land a substantial 45,000km subsea cable in Nigeria. The cable, famously known as ‘2Africa,’ finds its landing station nestled in the Mopo-Onibeju Lekki area of Lagos, as disclosed in a statement by MTN.

2Africa emerges as the world’s longest under-water cable, traversing three continents and crossing through 33 countries, with a substantial presence in Africa. This feat is poised to catalyze the burgeoning digital economy in Africa, thereby fostering growth across the continent.

The Managing Director of Bayobab Nigeria, Josephine Sarouk, who explained the direct impact of the cable on economic development in Africa emphasized its role in furthering the proliferation of 4G, 5G, and increased broadband penetration, thereby empowering millions of individuals and businesses.

Bayobab’s commitment to enhancing broadband capacity in Africa is evidenced by its investments in various submarine cables. Sarouk reiterated the company’s dedication to leveraging technology for connectivity, aligning with the government’s vision of a robust digital economy.
