The new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has unveiled a five year technology driven reform agenda aimed at transforming the examination body into Africa’s most trusted and digitally advanced admissions institution by 2031. Aina, who officially assumed office on Monday, said the roadmap, titled JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma, is designed to strengthen transparency, improve service delivery and modernise the board’s operations.
The reform agenda features seven flagship initiatives, including the deployment of a unified JAMB mobile application, the introduction of a paperless enterprise wide digital administration system, an independent review of the board’s technology infrastructure and the attainment of ISO 27001 information security certification. The registrar also announced plans to establish a unified customer service platform, strengthen strategic communications and invest in staff capacity development.
According to Aina, the programme is anchored on five pillars of integrity, service, governance, technology and partnership, with the objective of delivering secure, transparent and technology enabled examination and admissions services. He said JAMB would also expand its in house digital infrastructure to support data driven decision making, improve operational efficiency and enhance the experience of candidates and other stakeholders.
Aina, who succeeds Prof. Ishaq Oloyede after a decade in office, pledged to build on the board’s achievements while positioning JAMB as a global benchmark for technology driven examination administration. The 40 year old professor of Computer Engineering became JAMB’s youngest substantive registrar following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in May 2026.
