Fintech company PalmPay has joined the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in a cybersecurity awareness campaign aimed at educating Nigerians on the growing threat of online fraud and cyber-related crimes. The initiative forms part of efforts to promote safer digital transactions and encourage users to adopt better security practices as digital financial services continue to gain widespread acceptance across the country.

Speaking on the campaign, stakeholders emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between financial technology firms, law enforcement agencies and consumers in tackling the evolving tactics of cybercriminals. They noted that increasing digital adoption has created new opportunities for fraudsters, making continuous public education a critical component of Nigeria’s cybersecurity framework.

The awareness campaign featured advocacy activities designed to inform the public about common cyber threats, including phishing attacks, identity theft, account compromise and other forms of online scams. Participants were encouraged to safeguard personal information, use strong authentication measures and remain vigilant when conducting transactions on digital platforms.

PalmPay said the initiative underscores its commitment to protecting customers and strengthening trust in the digital payments ecosystem. The company stressed that cybersecurity remains a shared responsibility, requiring cooperation among technology companies, regulators, security agencies and users to ensure a safer and more resilient digital economy.
