The Ondo State Government has launched an artificial intelligence enabled human resources and payroll platform, Ondo Pay, as part of efforts to modernise personnel administration and improve public service delivery. The platform, unveiled in Akure on Wednesday, September 2, is designed to give civil servants easier access to payroll services while providing government with more reliable and centralised workforce information.

The system brings employee records, salary computation, approvals, reporting, payroll processing and pension migration into a centralised digital environment. Through its SmartApps AI mobile self service application, authorised workers can access payslips, view salary and deduction details, update permitted personal information, submit requests and receive payroll notifications without repeatedly visiting government offices.

Speaking at the launch, the Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, said reliable personnel information was essential to effective governance. He said the digital system would reduce delays associated with traditional procedures, support better workforce planning and facilitate faster resolution of workers’ requests, while urging officials handling personnel information to maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and security.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, said the platform would strengthen payroll controls and provide a clear audit trail for payroll activities and approvals. The government said integration of authentication, controlled access and Bank Verification Number information would help reduce payroll errors, duplicate or non genuine records and unauthorised payments, while enabling the state to improve wage bill management and make more informed workforce decisions.
