Nigerian defence technology startup, Terra Industries, has raised an additional $18 million, bringing its total seed funding to $52 million, which it described as Africa’s largest seed round. The company said the funds would be used to expand manufacturing, open its first international office in London and accelerate deployment of its autonomous security systems across the Global South.

Founded in 2024, Terra develops autonomous drones, interceptor drones, sentry towers and unmanned ground vehicles for monitoring critical infrastructure across land, air and maritime environments. Its ArtemisOS platform enables real time threat detection, autonomous mission planning and coordinated responses.

The latest funding follows $11.75 million raised in January and a further $22 million round led by Lux Capital. Terra has also partnered with Nigeria’s Defence Industries Corporation to support local production and is developing a 34,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Ghana.

Terra currently operates a 15,000 square foot facility in Abuja and expects its Ghana plant to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company said the facility could produce up to 50,000 aerial systems annually by 2028 as it expands its manufacturing footprint beyond Africa.
