Airtel Africa Foundation has launched the DigiLeap Women in Tech Programme, an initiative aimed at equipping 200 young women from underserved communities in Ikorodu, Lagos, with industry relevant digital skills. Implemented through Airtel Nigeria in partnership with the Ishk Tolaram Foundation, Co Creation Hub and SAIL Innovation Lab, the programme is designed to prepare participants for careers in Nigeria’s rapidly growing technology sector.

The 12 week training programme, running from June to September 2026 at the SAIL Innovation Lab, will provide practical instruction in Product Design, Software Development, Digital Marketing and Data Analytics. Participants will also benefit from leadership development, mentorship by Airtel Nigeria professionals and internship opportunities that offer hands on industry experience.

Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, Segun Ogunsanya, described the initiative as a strategic investment in Africa’s future, urging participants to maximise the opportunity to build skills capable of transforming their lives and communities. Airtel Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Balsingh, said the programme supports the company’s commitment to promoting an inclusive digital economy by preparing more young women for emerging technology careers.

According to the organisers, the DigiLeap curriculum combines classroom learning, practical projects, mentorship and workplace placements to bridge the gap between education and employment. The Foundation said the initiative forms part of its broader investment in digital inclusion and youth empowerment, while contributing to Nigeria’s efforts to build a skilled and diverse technology workforce capable of driving innovation and economic growth.
