Chinese technology brand Honor has offered fresh details about its experimental “Robot phone” and the new Honor Magic V6 ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company, which earlier teased a device featuring a movable camera arm, said the robot powered phone will be launched in the second half of the year. According to Honor, the device can respond to different situations without direct commands and is designed with what it describes as a personality, capable of nodding, shaking its head, and even dancing to music.
Demonstrations released by the company show users interacting with the robotic assistant through text and voice, including asking for outfit suggestions, with the camera arm responding with gestures to indicate choices. The device features a 200 megapixel camera mounted on a moving three axis gimbal with built in stabilization technology. Honor said the robotic system enables smooth rotation for videos and photos, including a Super Steady mode and a Spinshot feature that allows cinematic 90 or 180 degree rotations.
The robotic camera is also designed to enhance video calls through AI powered object tracking, allowing the lens to follow users more fluidly during conversations. The company disclosed that it developed a custom micro motor to control the arm’s movement and adapted structural techniques used in foldable devices to ensure durability. Honor said the robotic arm uses the same high strength materials found in the hinge of the Magic V6, rated at 2800 MPa tensile strength, allowing the four degree of freedom gimbal system to fit within a slim smartphone body.
Alongside the robot phone teaser, Honor officially launched the Magic V6 foldable, continuing its pursuit of ultra thin design. The device measures 4mm when unfolded and 8.75mm when folded, marginally slimmer than its predecessor. It houses a 6600 mAh battery, a significant increase from last year’s model, and supports 80W wired and 66W wireless charging through the company’s SuperCharge technology. Honor also introduced a new silicon carbon battery concept with 32 percent silicon density that could push foldable battery capacity beyond 7000 mAh in the future.
The Magic V6 features a 7.95 inch main AMOLED display and a 6.52 inch cover screen, both supporting LTPO 2.0 variable refresh rates between 1 and 120Hz to balance clarity and power efficiency. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, the device includes a triple rear camera system and dual front cameras.
Honor said it is expanding compatibility with Apple devices, enabling notification sync with iPhones, file sharing with Macs, and extended display functionality. While pricing details were not disclosed, the company confirmed the Magic V6 will roll out in select international markets in the second half of the year.
