Lagos based fintech company, Gravy Stream Inc., has launched Gravy, a super app designed to integrate digital payments, shopping, food delivery, travel bookings and cross border money transfers into a single platform. The company said the application addresses the growing challenge of multiple standalone fintech apps by enabling users to access a wide range of financial and lifestyle services through one account, one verification process and a single interface.
According to the company, the platform offers services including peer to peer transfers, utility bill payments, multicurrency wallets, virtual Visa cards, food delivery, online shopping, flight and hotel bookings, e hailing and courier services. It also features an artificial intelligence powered Smart Compare and Deal Wizard that allows users to compare prices across multiple retailers in real time to identify the most affordable options.
Gravy said its blockchain powered infrastructure supports cross border transfers to more than 198 financial institutions worldwide at lower foreign exchange costs, while also enabling users to convert stablecoins into naira and withdraw funds directly into Nigerian bank accounts. The company added that the platform is currently operational in Lagos and Abuja, with plans to expand its range of services and geographical coverage.
Founded by a team of African technology and finance professionals, Gravy Stream said the super app is aimed at reducing fragmentation in Africa’s digital financial services ecosystem and improving access to affordable financial solutions. The company plans to expand into more than 20 countries across West Africa, Europe and North America over the next five years, targeting about 70 million users as it broadens its digital commerce and financial services offerings.
