Global student lender Prodigy Finance has launched a new postgraduate scholarship focused on African students through its education access platform, NovaGrad. The initiative forms part of what the company describes as its Next Chapter programme, combining direct financial support with structured application guidance for students seeking to study abroad.
Prodigy Finance has funded postgraduate students at leading universities for years, shifting its scholarship focus across regions. Previous cycles concentrated on India and Latin America alongside more established markets. This round turns attention squarely to Africa, reflecting rising demand from students across the continent for international degrees and global academic exposure.
According to the company, experience has shown that funding alone does not determine success. Many applicants struggle to coordinate university selections, meet deadlines, and navigate visa and financial documentation simultaneously. NovaGrad was designed to bring those steps into one streamlined process, guiding students from shortlist to enrolment and reducing the administrative friction that often delays progress.
The scholarship package has two components. Ten students will receive up to 2,500 dollars each to help cover tuition and living expenses, with priority given to candidates demonstrating strong academic merit, clear financial need, and a realistic university shortlist. In addition, 100 students will qualify for application fee reimbursement of up to 200 dollars, applicable only to submissions made through NovaGrad. Applicants are required to register on the platform, submit their university applications through it, and meet stated deadlines to qualify.
Sonal Kapoor, Global Chief Business Officer at Prodigy Finance, said African students have consistently shown exceptional ambition and academic strength, noting that many have succeeded at some of the world’s top institutions. She added that the scholarship offers a focused opportunity, while NovaGrad provides clarity and structure at every stage of the application journey, particularly as rising costs and tight timelines increase pressure on prospective international students.
