Samsung is introducing a new Tap-to-Transfer feature to its Wallet app in the U.S. later this month, allowing users to instantly send money by simply tapping their phone to another card or device using NFC technology. This eliminates the need for third-party apps, long transfer times, or face-to-face interactions, with Visa and Mastercard already supporting the move.
The feature also works with physical debit cards that support tap-to-pay, enabling seamless transfers without requiring the recipient to have a digital wallet. For remote transactions, users can send money by searching the recipient’s phone number linked to their Samsung account.
Drew Blackard, Samsung’s Senior Vice President, emphasized the convenience this upgrade brings, making Samsung Wallet a more central tool for everyday financial tasks. The app already stores essential items like credit cards, IDs, boarding passes, and loyalty cards.
By streamlining peer-to-peer payments, Samsung aims to simplify how users handle daily interactions, reducing dependency on multiple apps and long wait times. The update positions Samsung Wallet as a leading solution for fast, flexible, and user-friendly transactions.
