The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has unveiled plans to partner with the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education to implement a nationwide digital literacy, entrepreneurship and STEM training programme aimed at empowering female educators and their students across Nigeria.
The initiative was announced during a meeting at NITDA headquarters, where the association’s North West Zonal Coordinator, Zainab Inuwa Adamu, invited the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, to serve as patron of its forthcoming national conference. The agency said the partnership would focus on building the long term digital capacity of women educators before extending mentorship and technology training to girls nationwide.
According to NITDA, the programme will provide training in digital literacy, digital marketing, business planning and entrepreneurship to strengthen participants’ digital skills and economic opportunities. The agency also plans to encourage more young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, particularly in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and data science.
As part of the collaboration, NITDA will provide digital learning tools and educational resources while encouraging members of the association to participate in the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026. Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting digital inclusion and expanding technology opportunities for women educators and the next generation of Nigerian girls.
