Nigerian software company, BluuPay, has removed monthly subscription fees for its business management software, making the platform available to small and medium sized enterprises at no subscription cost. The initiative is aimed at improving access to digital business management tools for business owners across the country.
The company said the decision was informed by the challenges faced by many retailers who still rely on manual bookkeeping and paper based records, making it difficult to monitor sales, inventory and profitability. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development, weak financial record keeping remains one of the major factors limiting the growth of many African SMEs.
BluuPay explained that its software automatically records transactions, updates inventory in real time, calculates profits and provides business owners with tools to monitor daily revenue, track customer debts and review sales performance without requiring advanced accounting knowledge.
Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of BluuPay, Mr Stephen Bitrus, said the company removed the subscription fee to make essential business management tools more accessible to small business owners. According to him, many entrepreneurs operate without clear financial insight into their businesses, adding that the initiative is expected to encourage wider adoption of digital record keeping and improve the efficiency and sustainability of small businesses across Nigeria.
