American streaming platform Peacock has entered the fast growing microdrama market with the launch of two short form reality inspired series produced in collaboration with Bravo, signalling the growing mainstream acceptance of the viral entertainment format.

The vertical video productions, designed for mobile viewing and featuring episodes lasting between 60 and 90 seconds, are expected to stream exclusively on Peacock’s platform in a move aimed at capturing younger audiences accustomed to TikTok style content consumption.

The first series, “Salon Confessionals with Madison LeCroy,” stars Madison LeCroy of the reality show Southern Charm, while “Campus Confidential: Miami” follows the lives of college students including Georgia Gay, daughter of Heather Gay from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. According to Peacock, the project represents the first time a major United States streaming service has produced original microdrama content, reflecting how rapidly the format is reshaping digital entertainment globally.

Originally popularised in China, microdrama platforms have witnessed explosive growth in the United States. Data from app intelligence company Appfigures showed that microdrama app ReelShort generated approximately $1.2 billion in consumer spending in 2025, representing a 119 per cent increase from the previous year, while rival platform DramaBox recorded $276 million in spending during the same period. The trend has also attracted major technology and entertainment players, with TikTok launching its dedicated microdrama platform PineDrama and startup Gamma Time securing funding support from investors including Alexis Ohanian, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian.

Industry analysts say Peacock’s decision to tie the format to established Bravo personalities could help the company avoid one of the major criticisms facing many existing microdrama platforms, which are often accused of relying on repetitive and poorly produced storylines. By leveraging loyal audiences already consuming Bravo content such as Vanderpump Rules on Peacock, the streaming company is betting that viewers will embrace bite sized reality entertainment as part of their regular viewing habits.
