The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is set to expand technology skills development and clean energy access in Kaduna State through plans to establish a drone training facility and provide energy support to 500 households.

The initiative is expected to strengthen practical technology training while promoting the adoption of cleaner energy solutions. The proposed drone facility could provide opportunities for Nigerians to acquire skills in drone technology, engineering and related applications, with potential uses in agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, security and other sectors.

The clean energy component also highlights the growing importance of affordable and reliable power for households and small businesses. Access to alternative energy sources could help reduce dependence on conventional electricity supplies, improve productivity and support communities where reliable power remains a challenge.

For Nigeria’s technology sector, the initiative presents an opportunity to connect technical education with practical innovation and community development. However, its long term impact will depend on effective implementation, sustained funding and access to equipment and training. Ensuring that beneficiaries acquire marketable skills and that supported households enjoy lasting energy benefits will be essential to achieving the programme’s objectives.
