More than 2,500 women in technology, entrepreneurs, investors, technology professionals and ecosystem leaders are gathering in Lagos for the 2026 Wetech Conference, as the annual event focuses on the growing role of women in artificial intelligence, capital and innovation. The conference, themed “The Power Shift: Women Leading the Future of AI, Capital and Innovation,” is holding today at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The one day conference is examining how women can participate more meaningfully in the technologies and economic opportunities shaping Africa’s digital future. Key areas on the programme include access to capital, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, leadership, policy, careers and community building. Sessions are also addressing AI infrastructure, partnerships and talent development as the technology continues to reshape industries.
A major feature of the conference is the PitchHer 2026 programme, which is providing a platform for women founders to present their businesses and engage with investors and other ecosystem stakeholders. The initiative was developed through a partnership involving Wetech and the UK Nigeria Tech Hub, with 25 women founders participating in an eight week investment readiness programme and six finalists progressing to the live pitch competition. The programme carries a ₦8.5 million prize pool.
The conference is also creating opportunities for networking, recruitment, knowledge sharing and collaboration among women at different stages of their technology careers. With discussions extending from AI and emerging technologies to funding and leadership, Wetech 2026 is positioning women’s participation as an important part of the conversations around Africa’s evolving technology ecosystem and future digital economy.
