The National Information Technology Development Agency has intensified efforts to build Nigeria’s future technology workforce by equipping primary and secondary school students with practical skills in artificial intelligence, robotics and other emerging technologies. The initiative was implemented through the Enugu Kids Coding and Emerging Technology Bootcamp, organised in collaboration with the Enugu MSME and Startup Agency.
The training exposed the students to a broad range of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, robotics and automation. Participants also received practical exposure to drone technology, autonomous systems and 3D design, giving them an early foundation in technologies expected to play an increasingly important role in Nigeria’s digital economy.
Representing NITDA’s South East Zonal Director, Ikechukwu Eze urged the students to build on the knowledge acquired during the programme and apply technology to solving practical problems in their communities. He encouraged them to look beyond classroom learning, embrace innovation and develop the skills needed to become future technology leaders capable of contributing to Nigeria’s digital transformation.
Certificates were presented to all participants at the end of the programme, while outstanding students received laptops and tablets in recognition of their performance. NITDA said initiatives of this nature are part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline by exposing young Nigerians to emerging technologies early and preparing them to participate meaningfully in the country’s growing digital economy.
