China’s AI firm DeepSeek is set to roll out its next generation model, V4, which will run on advanced chips developed by Huawei Technologies, according to reports. The model is expected to launch in the coming weeks, marking a significant step in China’s push to build a self reliant AI ecosystem.
Ahead of the release, major Chinese tech players including Alibaba Group, ByteDance and Tencent Holdings have reportedly placed large orders for Huawei’s upcoming chips, running into hundreds of thousands of units. This signals strong industry backing and growing confidence in locally developed semiconductor technology.
Sources indicate that DeepSeek has been working closely with Huawei and Cambricon Technologies to optimise the model’s performance on domestic hardware. The company is also said to be developing multiple versions of the V4 model, each designed for specific capabilities and tailored to run efficiently on Chinese built chips.
The development comes as DeepSeek continues to shake up the global AI market. Its earlier models, V3 and R1, had triggered a major tech stock selloff by raising questions about the high spending of U.S. firms on AI infrastructure. With V4 generating strong anticipation, analysts say its launch could further reshape competition in the global artificial intelligence space.
