Energy-tech startup Beacon Power Services (BPS) has raised an undisclosed sum in a Series A round to expand its operations into Eastern and Southern Africa. Led by Partech, the round saw participation from investors like FinnFund, Gaia Impact, and Seedstars Africa Ventures. Partech’s involvement provides BPS with strategic partnerships to deepen its role in Africa’s power sector.
Founded in 2013 by Bimbola Adisa, BPS addresses Africa’s power issues through data-centric and grid management solutions. The startup developed two AI-powered tools—Customer and Asset Information Management System (CAIMS) and Adora—which improve service efficiency and manage real-time power distribution, reducing outages.
BPS currently serves over 5 million people across African markets, primarily in Nigeria and Ghana, where unreliable power grids and frequent outages affect daily life. Notably, Nigeria’s power grid collapsed six times this year, underlining the urgency of BPS’s solutions.
With Partech’s backing, BPS aims to further extend its data-driven impact in African energy, a mission that aligns with Partech Africa Fund II’s goal of supporting innovative African founders. “BPS has proven its expertise in grid management… and we look forward to scaling their impact across Africa,” said Partech’s General Partner, Cyril Collon.
