Turkey has reinstated access to Instagram following a brief blockage imposed on August 2.

The ban was lifted after negotiations between Turkish authorities and Meta, the parent company of Instagram. The Turkish government had initially blocked the platform, accusing Instagram of censoring posts related to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that the block was due to Instagram’s failure to address issues related to “catalog crimes.” Following discussions, Uraloglu announced that Instagram had agreed to meet

Turkey’s demands concerning content censorship and pledged to collaborate more closely with the Turkish authorities. The specific details of the content restrictions and the agreements reached were not disclosed.
