In a bid to boost customer experience and reduce the burden of device repair costs, telecommunications giant Globacom has rolled out a new Device Protection service in partnership with tech firm, Cubecover. The initiative, a first of its kind in Nigeria’s telecom industry, offers subscribers financial cover for screen cracks and water damage — two of the most common phone issues faced by users.

With this service, Glo customers stand to receive up to ₦50,000 for repairs or full device replacement. The subscription is flexible, allowing users to pay ₦50 daily, ₦300 weekly, or ₦600 monthly. According to Mojeed Aluko, Glo’s Head of Value Added Services, the service ensures that users remain connected even in the event of accidental device damage. New customers can walk into any Gloworld outlet to purchase a SIM and device bundle with immediate protection activation.

Subscribers can enroll in the plan by dialing 70131#, after which the subscription fee is deducted from their airtime. Once payment is confirmed, customers are prompted to complete a quick diagnostic to verify their device’s IMEI and activate the protection. The service is designed to be fast and hassle-free, eliminating the usual paperwork and long processing times associated with device repairs.

Speaking on the collaboration, Deji Macaulay, Managing Director of Cubecover, explained that the partnership brings peace of mind to users by removing the stress of unexpected phone issues. The launch of this service further highlights Globacom’s commitment to digital innovation and customer-centric solutions in Nigeria’s highly competitive telecommunications space.
