In a bid to reshape high-performance computing, Sandisk has launched its most powerful internal SSD to date—the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe with PCIe Gen 5.0 technology. Capable of staggering speeds of up to 14,900MB/s and capacities reaching 8TB, the drive is designed to handle the demanding needs of gamers, content creators, and AI professionals. With this launch, Sandisk sets a new benchmark for SSD performance, offering double the speed of its previous PCIe Gen 4.0 models and delivering 100% more power efficiency.

The new SSD is built with Sandisk’s BiCS8 TLC 3D NAND technology and is engineered for intense workloads such as 4K/8K video editing, complex AI model training, and the latest gaming titles. For users who often face overheating or power consumption challenges, the SN8100 offers a low-power profile and optimized thermal performance, eliminating the need for expensive cooling systems. The drive’s remarkable endurance, up to 2,400TBW, makes it a dependable option for those running massive, continuous operations.

Sandisk is also offering an optional version of the SSD with a built-in heatsink, tailored for hardcore gamers and performance seekers who prefer a silent and thermally efficient rig. The heatsink is built from anodized aluminum, requires no additional fans, and even includes a customizable RGB LED feature for users to personalize their setups. With its sleek design and silent cooling, this variant supports prolonged gaming sessions and intensive work without system lag or thermal throttling.

The WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD is now available for purchase globally in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities via Sandisk.com and select retailers. An 8TB model, along with the heatsink variants, will roll out later in the year. As gamers and creators push the limits of what their systems can do, Sandisk’s latest SSD offers a future-proof solution that marries top-tier performance with energy efficiency, redefining expectations for PC storage.
