The Ondo State Government has deployed an artificial intelligence system, known as Ondo AI, to manage civil servants’ personnel records, payroll and pension processes, in a move aimed at improving efficiency in public administration. The system is expected to reduce reliance on manual procedures while providing a more integrated approach to managing information relating to workers and retirees in the state.
The initiative brings artificial intelligence into an area of government administration that has traditionally depended heavily on paperwork and fragmented records. By digitising and automating key processes, the state government is seeking to improve the accuracy of personnel information, facilitate payroll management and make pension administration more efficient.
The deployment also reflects the growing application of AI and digital technologies in Nigeria’s public sector. Beyond automating administrative tasks, systems of this nature can provide government agencies with faster access to data for planning and decision making, while potentially reducing delays associated with the processing of workers’ records and entitlements.
For Ondo State, the initiative represents an attempt to apply emerging technology to the practical challenges of governance and public service delivery.
