Nigeria’s fintech ecosystem is gathering across Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt for the ninth edition of Nigeria Fintech Week, NFW 2026, which begins today and runs until September 23. Organised by the Fintech Association of Nigeria, FintechNGR, the two day event is bringing together fintech companies, banks, technology firms, investors, regulators, policymakers and innovators to discuss the future of financial technology and Nigeria’s wider digital economy.
Held under the theme, “Legacy in Motion: Powering the Digital Renaissance,” the event is focusing on the technologies, infrastructure, partnerships and policies shaping the next phase of financial services. Discussions are expected to cover digital payments, financial inclusion, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital banking, blockchain, regulation, investment and other areas of financial innovation. The organisers said the multi city format is designed to widen participation and connect stakeholders across major fintech and economic centres in the country.
Lagos is serving as the anchor city, with the main conference taking place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly the National Theatre. Abuja is hosting a policy and regulatory track, while Port Harcourt is serving as a regional centre for stakeholders in the South South. The official NFW platform says the 2026 programme will feature nine tracks covering areas including payments and infrastructure, founders and investors, financial innovation and other parts of the fintech ecosystem.
The gathering comes as Nigeria’s fintech sector continues to expand and attract investment, while the industry faces growing demands for reliable infrastructure, stronger cybersecurity, effective regulation and sustainable innovation. Speakers listed for the event include Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso, Securities and Exchange Commission Director General Emomotimi Agama, NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi and other senior figures from the financial and technology sectors. NFW 2026 is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine how Nigeria can strengthen its digital financial infrastructure while developing new products, partnerships and investment opportunities.
