Technology, financial services and digital infrastructure leaders are set to converge in Lagos on Thursday as TechEconomy marks its ninth anniversary with the inaugural GrowthX by TechEconomy conference. The event, scheduled for September 24 at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, will focus on issues shaping Nigeria’s digital economy, including data localisation, digital payments, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and the changing economics of the fintech sector.
The conference, themed “Driving Digital Growth Through Innovation and Collaboration”, is expected to bring together technology executives, policymakers, regulators, investors and innovators to examine the opportunities and challenges confronting Nigeria’s digital economy. According to the organisers, discussions will focus on how infrastructure, technology policy, innovation and investment can support the next phase of digital growth in the country.
Data localisation is expected to feature prominently at the event, with industry leaders examining its implications for Nigeria’s digital payments ecosystem. Other sessions will explore the development of artificial intelligence solutions suited to African economic and social realities, as well as the relationship between fintech innovation, regulation, cybersecurity and the rising cost of scaling technology businesses.
Cybersecurity and digital trust will also receive attention, with futurist and cybersecurity expert David Adeoye Abodunrin scheduled to deliver a keynote address on building Nigeria’s next generation of digital payments and infrastructure. The conference will be followed by the Technology Innovation and Leadership Awards, TiLAwards, as part of TechEconomy’s ninth anniversary activities. The event is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders across the technology ecosystem to exchange ideas on the infrastructure, policies and innovations needed to support sustainable digital growth in Nigeria.
