Electric vehicle company JéGO has signed a commercial agreement with mobility startup GoCab to deploy 6,000 electric vehicles across Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire over the next two years. The partnership will begin with the rollout of 600 commercial electric vehicles in the coming months for use on ride hailing platforms, including Uber, Bolt and inDrive.

The initiative is aimed at accelerating the adoption of clean transportation by addressing two major obstacles facing the sector, namely vehicle financing and inadequate charging infrastructure. JéGO Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Frederick Akpoghene, said the partnership is designed to deliver cleaner, more affordable mobility solutions tailored to Africa’s transportation needs.

Under the agreement, JéGO will provide electric vehicles and charging infrastructure to GoCab, while drivers will have the opportunity to own the vehicles through flexible daily repayment plans. The company will also deploy its artificial intelligence powered fleet management platform to support predictive maintenance, telematics and driver earnings monitoring.

GoCab, which currently operates drive to own services in the four participating countries, plans to increase electric vehicles in its fleet from about 10 per cent to 50 per cent by the end of 2026. JéGO also disclosed that it is raising a Series A funding round to support the expansion of its electric mobility operations across the region.
