Three Nigerian entrepreneurs have launched Wahala App, a civic technology platform designed to provide real time reporting and alerts on public incidents such as flooding, crime, road accidents, election violence, and infrastructure failures. Founded by Oriekaose Agholor, Adetunji Adewoye, and Kosi Kabiri, the mobile and web platform aims to organise emergency information that is often scattered across social media into a single, location based reporting system.
According to the founders, users can report incidents by uploading photos, videos, and descriptions, while nearby users receive instant alerts within selected locations. The platform also features an interactive incident map, AI generated reports sourced from credible news outlets, and a community verification system that allows users to confirm, dispute, or update reports to improve their accuracy over time. It also includes an SOS feature that enables users to notify emergency contacts and access emergency services.
The founders said Wahala App is free for individual users and will generate revenue through partnerships with estates, community associations, security organisations, emergency responders, and government agencies. Since its launch in April 2026, the platform has attracted more than 100 users, with the team hoping it will become a valuable tool for public safety and election monitoring across Nigeria.
Although the startup faces the challenge of changing Nigerians’ habit of sharing breaking incidents on conventional social media platforms, the founders insist the app is not intended to replace social networks but to provide a structured, searchable, and reliable database of real time public incidents. They said the platform is currently self funded as they continue to invest personal resources into its development and expansion.
