Streaming giant Netflix has quietly implemented another round of subscription price increases, raising costs across its major plans as part of what it described as ongoing improvements to its service offerings. The company confirmed that its ad supported tier now costs 8.99 dollars per month, up from 7.99 dollars, marking the latest in a series of incremental adjustments to its pricing structure.

Further adjustments show that the standard ad free plan has risen to 19.99 dollars monthly from 17.99 dollars, while the premium subscription now stands at 26.99 dollars, also reflecting a 2 dollar increase. The cost of adding extra viewers outside a subscriber’s household has seen mixed changes, with the ad supported plan now priced at 6.99 dollars per additional user, while the ad free option has increased to 9.99 dollars.

The company explained that the latest review of its pricing reflects continued investment in content quality and platform expansion, including a broader range of entertainment offerings. The changes were first flagged by Android Authority, although Netflix noted that new subscribers began seeing the updated rates from March 26, while existing users will be notified ahead of a phased rollout in the coming months.

Industry watchers say the adjustment comes amid a period of strategic repositioning for Netflix, which has recently introduced new features such as video podcasts, expanded live streaming content, and plans to overhaul its mobile application with short form video integration. The increase also follows the company’s decision to withdraw from a high profile acquisition bid involving Warner Bros. Discovery, signalling a renewed focus on strengthening its core streaming business.
