The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, will on Monday commence the FutureMakers by NASENI Virtual Hackathon and Pitch Sessions, bringing together 60 shortlisted innovators from the six geopolitical zones to develop technology driven solutions to regional challenges.
The five day virtual hackathon will run from August 17 to 21, 2026, while the pitch sessions will hold from August 24 to 26 and will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook. Participants were selected from thousands of entries and will work with technical facilitators and mentors before presenting their innovations to judges and industry leaders.
Winners in each geopolitical zone will receive cash prizes of ₦1.5 million, ₦1 million and ₦500,000 respectively. The six zonal champions will also advance to the NASENI Invention Fest, where they will compete for a ₦5 million grand prize, a funded study tour abroad and scholarships to two Nigerian universities.
NASENI Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the programme reflects the agency’s commitment to building locally relevant innovations across the country. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with MIVA Open University, the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, and other innovation ecosystem partners.
