Interswitch has strengthened its long standing partnership with KCB Group in a move aimed at boosting digital payments and financial inclusion across East Africa. The renewed collaboration was reinforced during a high level meeting at KCB’s headquarters in Nairobi, where both organisations agreed to scale up efforts to deliver seamless, secure, and accessible payment solutions to individuals and businesses in the region.

The engagement brought together top executives from both sides, including Interswitch’s founder and CEO, Mitchell Elegbe, alongside KCB Group CEO, Paul Russo. Discussions focused on how to combine their strengths to meet the growing demand for efficient digital financial services. The talks highlighted a shared vision to modernise payment systems and support the changing needs of customers in an increasingly digital economy.

A key outcome of the partnership is the expansion of Verve card acceptance in Kenya, building on earlier progress in Uganda. By integrating Interswitch’s payment technology with KCB’s wide banking network, customers can now use Verve cards and other digital payment options more easily across merchant locations. This is expected to improve everyday transactions, support businesses, and encourage more people to move away from cash based payments.

Both organisations say the partnership goes beyond technology, focusing on creating real economic impact. By improving access to secure payment systems, they aim to drive financial inclusion, support small businesses, and strengthen regional trade. As digital transformation continues to shape Africa’s financial space, the collaboration positions Interswitch and KCB Group as key players working to build a more connected and inclusive digital economy.
