Meta has introduced a new AI-powered translation tool designed to help creators overcome language barriers and connect with audiences worldwide. The feature, unveiled on Tuesday, automatically dubs and lip-syncs Reels into another language, recreating the creator’s voice and syncing lip movements to match the translated audio. According to the company, this makes it appear as though the creator is speaking directly in the new language, enhancing authenticity and engagement.
Currently, the service supports English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations, with plans to expand to more languages in the near future. Access is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts. On Facebook, the tool can be enabled through a “Translate your voice with Meta AI” option before publishing a Reel, while creators also have the ability to preview and review translations before posting.
Meta emphasized that translations work best with clear, face-to-camera videos and minimal background noise. In addition to the AI tool, Facebook creators will also be able to upload up to 20 dubbed audio tracks to broaden their reach, with the feature available in the “Closed captions and translations” section of Meta Business Suite. Viewers will automatically see content in their preferred language, and creators will gain insights on performance metrics such as views from different language groups.
The company said the innovation reflects its commitment to supporting creators globally by helping them expand their audiences across cultural and linguistic divides. Instagram head Adam Mosseri noted that the feature opens new opportunities for creators to grow their followings and maximize value from the platform. The development comes shortly after Meta rolled out content monetization features in Nigeria, including In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels, further expanding opportunities for creators in emerging markets
