Founder and CEO of VitalSwap, Akinsola Jegede, has unveiled a digital financial solution designed to break long-standing barriers preventing African professionals and businesses from fully participating in the global economy.

The new platform allows African freelancers, remote workers, and digital entrepreneurs to open foreign business accounts in US dollars, British pounds, and euros under their registered business names, enabling seamless international transactions and local currency withdrawals. Jegede said the platform was born out of years of frustration with existing global payment systems that often exclude African users.

With platforms like Stripe and PayPal either unavailable or limited in many African countries, African professionals offering services in design, software, consulting, and other digital sectors are often forced to rely on risky and informal payment methods.

VitalSwap offers a secure alternative tailored to Africa’s needs, integrating an artificial intelligence-driven compliance engine to streamline KYC, KYB, and AML processes. This ensures users can quickly meet global regulatory standards without sacrificing usability or accessibility.

Currently in its early rollout phase, VitalSwap has launched with a pilot group of users and opened a public waitlist for broader access. Feedback from early adopters has been highly positive, with users commending the platform’s simplicity, efficient onboarding, transparent currency conversion, and fast withdrawal processes. According to Jegede, the service is not just about payments but is aimed at building a full-scale financial infrastructure for Africa’s growing digital workforce and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As Africa’s digital economy expands, driven by remote work, digital exports, and a burgeoning tech industry, experts say the need for inclusive, reliable financial platforms will become increasingly urgent. Jegede maintains that VitalSwap’s mission is to democratise global financial access, empowering African professionals and startups to thrive in international markets.

“Too many African businesses and freelancers have been shut out of global opportunities not because of a lack of talent or ambition, but because of payment restrictions. VitalSwap bridges that gap,” he concluded.
