Tantalizers Plc has announced a major foray into the Nigerian media space with the signing of a memorandum of understanding on June 25, 2025, to partner with Degue Broadcasting Network, owners of the once-active DBN Television.
The fast-food giant revealed the development in a corporate filing with the Nigerian Exchange, stating that the partnership aims to revive and restructure DBN to deliver fresh and innovative television content. The move is seen as a strategic step in Tantalizers’ ongoing diversification beyond the food industry.
According to the company, the initiative will bring a new wave of creativity to the broadcasting landscape and reposition DBN Television for relevance in Nigeria’s competitive media market. Tantalizers Chairman, Adam Nuru, described the project as a platform to amplify African narratives, while DBN Chairman, Osa Sonny Adun, noted that the revived channel, backed by capital and content, would redefine television in Africa. The latest deal follows Tantalizers’ May 2025 acquisition of Grand Media Projects, owned by veteran filmmaker Tade Ogidan.
Tantalizers’ recent diversification strategy has seen the firm broaden its investment scope. In December 2024, it acquired DanBethel Marine Services Limited, while in March 2025, it entered into a partnership with U.S.-based Quinn Fisheries and Harvester Fishing to acquire 10 trawlers—an effort to tap into Nigeria’s emerging blue economy. These expansion efforts were buoyed by a N1 billion private equity injection from Messrs Food Specialties and Banklink Africa in late 2024, making them the majority shareholders.
On the stock market, Tantalizers recorded a 16.59% gain in the first half of 2025, with the share price climbing from N2.05 at the start of the year to a peak of N2.90 in March. Though the second quarter witnessed a dip, ending June at N2.39, investor sentiment remains largely positive. As of July 2, 2025, Tantalizers shares were trading at N2.42 with a cumulative market volume of 2.2 billion shares, reflecting sustained interest in the company’s evolving business strategy.
