Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba, announced on Monday that its newly launched Taobao Instant Commerce portal has exceeded 40 million daily orders just one month after its debut. The platform, which promises delivery within 60 minutes, marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into faster, more efficient e-commerce services.

Taobao Instant Commerce integrates merchants from Ele.me, Alibaba’s food delivery arm, into the company’s flagship Taobao shopping app. This fusion allows users to access a wide range of products with rapid delivery, catering to the growing demand for convenience among Chinese consumers.

The initiative forms part of a wider trend in China’s digital marketplace, where major platforms are investing heavily in what is known as “instant retail.” This model emphasizes ultra-fast delivery and real-time product availability, reshaping consumer expectations and e-commerce logistics.
