Google has announced the commencement of applications for its 2025 Startups Accelerator Africa programme, a three-month initiative tailored to support promising tech startups across the continent. The hybrid programme targets companies at the Seed to Series A stage that are deploying advanced technologies to address complex local or global challenges. It offers a platform for innovative founders to scale their solutions with the backing of one of the world’s leading tech giants.
Successful applicants will benefit from equity-free support, which includes direct mentorship from Google engineers, product managers, and industry experts. Participants also gain access to up to $350,000 worth of Google Cloud credits, alongside strategic guidance on business development, customer acquisition, product strategy, and leadership. Other features of the programme include deep-dive workshops in areas such as product design, machine learning, and growth, as well as 30-day access to Google’s TPU Research Cloud for AI-driven innovations.
The programme is open to startups across Africa that are developing scalable tech products, especially those leveraging artificial intelligence or machine learning. Eligible applicants must have a dedicated CTO or senior technical lead and a measurable growth model. Google encourages founders from underrepresented communities to apply, reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion within the tech ecosystem.
Applications are open until May 9, 2025, with the programme officially kicking off in June and culminating in a Demo Day in August, where startups will pitch to Google teams, partners, and potential investors. Interested founders are advised to apply early through the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa website, as only 10 to 15 startups will be selected for this highly competitive opportunity.
