The Federal Government, through the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), has entered into a partnership with Azare Consulting to enhance regulatory compliance and foster innovation in Nigeria’s gaming industry. The collaboration was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology headquarters in Abuja.
The agreement seeks to establish a structured framework for the gaming sector, ensuring adherence to regulations while boosting revenue generation and technological advancements. A key aspect of the partnership is the introduction of clear guidelines to regulate gaming operations, aimed at curbing illegal activities, promoting consumer protection, and creating a conducive environment for operators and investors.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of NOTAP, Dr. Lady Obiageli Amadiobi, described the partnership as a crucial step towards modernising the industry. She emphasised that structured regulations and technology-driven innovations would contribute significantly to the sector’s development. Similarly, Azare Consulting’s representative, Saadatu Hamu, noted that the agreement would align Nigeria’s gaming industry with global best practices, enhancing transparency and investor confidence.
Beyond regulatory improvements, the initiative will also focus on capacity building by introducing training programmes for industry professionals. This effort is expected to drive technological advancements, attract foreign investments, and create employment opportunities within the gaming sector.
