Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has significantly increased the price of its top-tier Premium+ subscription, following the release of Grok 3, the latest AI model from xAI. The Premium+ plan, which provides users access to the advanced AI model, now costs $40 per month in the U.S., with an annual subscription set at $350.
The price adjustments were not limited to the U.S., as X also raised subscription fees in other markets, including the UK, where the monthly rate jumped from £17 to £35, and European countries like France and Germany, where the cost soared from €21 to €38.
This marks the second price hike for the Premium+ plan in just a few months, with X previously increasing the fee from $16 to $22 per month in December. The new rates mean that some users will now pay more than double their previous subscription costs. Despite the steep hike, access to Grok 3 remains limited, as some of its more advanced features are locked behind a separate SuperGrok plan available through the Grok app. Premium+ subscribers will only have access to select functionalities like “deep search” and “reasoning.”
The pricing inconsistencies on X have also raised concerns among users. While the platform’s support page lists the monthly Premium+ fee at $50, the sign-up page displays a price of $48.40, and the final check-out page charges $40. Similarly, the annual subscription price varies, with one page quoting $395 and another listing it as $477.95. The discrepancies have added to the confusion surrounding X’s latest pricing structure.
As X continues to adjust its premium offerings, the changes highlight the company’s ongoing strategy to monetize its AI-driven services. With xAI rolling out advanced features through separate plans, users may need to weigh the benefits of these subscriptions against their rising costs.
