President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday announced a restructuring of his media and communications team.
The changes will see Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, joined by new appointees Daniel Bwala and Sunday Dare working collectively as the President’s spokespersons.
The restructuring, according to a statement from Onanuga, is designed to enhance the effectiveness of government communications. It also marks a shift in the roles of two key officials.
Sunday Dare, previously the Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has now been redeployed to the position of Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications. Similarly, Daniel Bwala, who was appointed last week as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, has been reassigned to the role of Special Adviser, Policy Communication.
The new structure means that instead of a single spokesperson, the trio will collectively represent the government, ensuring more coordinated and consistent communication of policies, decisions, and engagements, according to the official release.
The Presidency explained in the announcement that the changes reflect a commitment to improving the efficiency of the government’s communication machinery.
It also emphasized that all three Special Advisers would jointly serve as spokespersons for the administration.
