China’s Huawei Technologies has announced that pre-orders for its Mate 70 smartphone are now open.
The move marks the latest chapter in the company’s efforts to assert its position in the premium smartphone market. The announcement, made via Huawei’s official WeChat account, also revealed plans for a Mate brand event on November 26, where the company is expected to unveil its newest smartphone lineup.
The Huawei online store began accepting reservations for the Mate 70 and two Pro versions on Monday, requiring no deposits. However, the company has yet to disclose the prices for the upcoming models.
This release follows the success of the Mate 60 series, which marked Huawei’s return to the 5G premium smartphone market, celebrated in China as a significant achievement with domestically produced semiconductors. These advancements are viewed by many Chinese as a victory over U.S. sanctions imposed in 2019, which have restricted Huawei’s access to advanced American chips and technology.
The Mate brand event on November 26 is expected to provide more details on the company’s strategic direction and its efforts to solidify its foothold in the global smartphone market.
