The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Nigeria has reassured the public of the federal government’s dedication to ensuring the security of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). In a statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, the office emphasized its commitment to safeguarding employees’ data.
Amid recent concerns about a potential breach of the IPPIS, the OAGF dismissed fears, stating that the system’s database remains secure. The OAGF assured that no unauthorized access or compromise has occurred within the payroll system, which it manages alongside other financial management initiatives.
The office highlighted that its ICT Security Policy aligns with global standards, designed to protect the digital assets of the IPPIS. The OAGF clarified that the IPPIS website is solely used for information sharing and not for any transactions, emphasizing that no sensitive payroll data is stored on the site.
In response to media reports, the OAGF stated, “The IPPIS is not using the OAGF website for any transaction. The website is merely a medium to share information, and neither payroll nor payment is conducted through it.” This statement directly addressed concerns that sensitive data may have been exposed via the website.

The OAGF also addressed concerns over the IPPIS Validation Portal, which had been developed to update employee information. According to the office, the portal was deployed on a secure platform, and once the validation exercise was completed, the data was safely extracted, and the portal was permanently shut down.
The validation process, which used a secure database and application from HELIX-FONS, ensured that all data was adequately protected. The OAGF stated that the firm, located in Abuja, provided the necessary tools to secure the IPPIS portal during the process.
In light of IPPIS’s significance to Nigerian workers, the OAGF reiterated its commitment to protecting employees’ personal information. The office encouraged workers experiencing salary discrepancies to use official channels for resolution, assuring that mechanisms are in place to address such issues.
Although the OAGF has reassured the public of the IPPIS system’s security, reports continue to question the reliability of HELIX-FONS, with minimal information available about the firm. Despite these concerns, the OAGF maintains that no breach has occurred and that employees’ data is safe.
