Tecno has introduced its latest foldable devices, the Phantom V Fold2 and V Flip2. Priced starting at $1,099, the Phantom V Fold2 is positioned as one of the more affordable large-screen foldables. We are currently reviewing this device and will provide a detailed analysis soon.

The Phantom V Fold2 represents a significant design overhaul from its predecessor. It is notably thinner at 12mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded, and lighter at 249 grams. The improved design is immediately apparent upon handling the device.

A key design improvement is the cleaner camera module, which replaces the more visually cluttered setup of the previous model. Additionally, the review unit features a light blue vegan leather back, developed in collaboration with Loewe Design Studio. This material offers a soft yet grippy texture.

The display specifications remain consistent with last year’s model: a 6.42-inch front panel and a 7.85-inch main screen, both LTPO AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and variable refresh rates from 1-120Hz. It continues to use the Dimensity 9000+ chipset paired with 12GB of RAM.New features include support for the Phantom V Pen, enhancing functionality with an active stylus.

The Phantom V Fold2 also introduces IP54 dust and splash resistance, a larger 5,750 mAh battery with 70W wired charging (up from 5,000 mAh and 45W), and 15W wireless charging, which was absent in the previous model.

On the software front, it runs Tecno’s HiOS 14 Fold, based on Android 14, and includes an array of AI capabilities under the AI Vision suite.

The camera setup has been revamped with a new triple configuration: a 50MP main sensor, a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and an ultrawide sensor. We look forward to evaluating these enhancements in our forthcoming review.
