Hebbia, a startup leveraging generative AI for document analysis and response, has raised $130 million in Series B funding, valuing the company at around $700 million. Leading the investment round is Andreessen Horowitz, alongside Index Ventures, Google Ventures, and Peter Thiel, reflecting increasing investor confidence in AI-driven ventures.

Founded in 2020 by George Sivulka during his PhD studies at Stanford, Hebbia initially focused on AI-powered search and summarization tools before pivoting to become an AI analyst platform. Its flagship product, Matrix, employs advanced algorithms to process and analyze extensive document sets, providing structured responses similar to spreadsheet formats. This capability is particularly valuable for sectors such as asset management and investment banking, facilitating efficient data organization and analysis.

Hebbia has shown impressive financial performance, boasting an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $13 million and achieving profitability early on. The company’s revenue has grown exponentially, increasing by 15 times over the past 18 months. This robust financial trajectory has contributed to its valuation, approximately 54 times its ARR, in line with other high-profile AI startups.

Notably, Hebbia is led by George Sivulka, who stands out for his unconventional path—from working at NASA as a teenager to completing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Stanford in just 2.5 years. Despite lacking traditional business experience or a business-focused co-founder, Sivulka’s technical acumen and visionary leadership have been pivotal in steering Hebbia’s rapid growth and expansion into diverse sectors beyond finance, including law firms and pharmaceutical companies.

With plans to utilize the latest funding to expand its team, enhance product offerings, and broaden its market reach, Hebbia aims to consolidate its position as a leader in AI-driven data analytics and decision support tools. Already entrenched in the operations of major asset managers and backed by partnerships with notable firms like Centerview Partners and Fenwick, Hebbia is poised to further innovate and redefine enterprise solutions in the AI landscape.
