The Indian government has embarked on a mission to rescue its citizens ensnared in deceptive employment practices within Cambodia, where they were coerced into participating in cyber fraud schemes.
According to a statement from Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian embassy in Cambodia, in collaboration with Cambodian authorities, has successfully repatriated approximately 250 Indian nationals, with 75 individuals rescued in the past three months alone.

Jaiswal’s remarks came in response to alarming reports circulating within Indian media circles, which suggest that over 5,000 Indian nationals find themselves trapped in Cambodia, compelled to engage in cyber fraud activities targeting unsuspecting victims back home.
“We are actively cooperating with Cambodian authorities and relevant agencies in India to dismantle the networks responsible for perpetrating these fraudulent schemes,” stated Jaiswal, reaffirming the Indian government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens from exploitation abroad.
Furthermore, Jaiswal emphasized that the Indian government, alongside its diplomatic mission in Cambodia, has issued multiple advisories cautioning Indian nationals about the perils of falling prey to such illicit schemes, underscoring the proactive measures being undertaken to combat this menace.
