The Federal Government has unveiled the 1Gov Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Platform, a homegrown digital solution developed by Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB) to strengthen efficiency and data management across the public service.
The platform, launched at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in Abuja, was described as a major step toward building a knowledge-driven and technology-enabled civil service. The Go-Live ceremony drew senior government officials, permanent secretaries, partners, and stakeholders within Nigeria’s digital governance ecosystem.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, said the deployment of the ECM platform marks a defining moment in the ongoing reforms under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan. She explained that the transition from the former Laserfiche system to the sovereign 1Gov Cloud ECM ensures full local hosting and uninterrupted continuity for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies. She also highlighted achievements recorded over the past year, including the creation of more than 59,000 official email accounts and the harmonisation of government data.
Walson-Jack outlined four pillars driving the migration—national sovereignty of digital infrastructure, interoperability across MDAs, scale advantage for unified standards, and faster nationwide adoption of electronic workflows and e-signatures. A live demonstration by the 1Gov ECM Project Lead, Mr. Ayodeji Bakare, showed that over 893 staff have already begun using key features such as GovMail, workflow automation, and document management tools designed to enhance transparency and accountability.
Speaking on behalf of the GBB Managing Director, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Mr. Sani Ibrahim, commended the OHCSF for its leadership in accelerating the digital transformation of government operations. He said the new platform brings the nation closer to its target of a fully paperless government by December 31, 2025.
He added that the 1Government Cloud has been deployed across several ministries, reaffirming GBB’s commitment to supporting MDAs in achieving national digitalisation goals. The event ended with renewed pledges from government stakeholders to deepen collaboration in modernising public service delivery through secure and sustainable digital systems
