Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, was largely restored after a major outage disrupted access for tens of thousands of users in the United States and other countries including Germany, France, India, and the UK. According to outage tracker Downdetector.com, over 25,800 issues were reported at the peak of the outage around 8:51 a.m. ET, but by midday, the number had fallen to under 650. X has yet to comment on the cause of the disruption.

Following the incident, Musk posted on X that he was returning to an intense work schedule, stating he would be “spending 24/7” at his companies and sleeping in conference rooms. He emphasized the need to focus on X, his artificial intelligence venture xAI, Tesla, and the upcoming Starship launch. This signals a shift in Musk’s attention back to his core enterprises amid a series of ongoing developments in critical technologies.

Musk also recently announced a significant reduction in his political spending after contributing nearly $300 million to support former President Donald Trump and other Republicans in the last election cycle. This move comes in response to investor unease over his political involvement and its potential impact on his business operations. Musk had previously led a Department of Government Efficiency that slashed jobs and canceled contracts.

His outspoken political stances have drawn protests, particularly in the U.S. and Europe, which in turn have affected Tesla’s performance. The automaker reported its first annual drop in vehicle deliveries last year. Concerned investors have questioned Musk’s level of engagement at Tesla, prompting him to assure them that he would scale back his involvement in his political initiative DOGE to just one or two days per week starting in May.
