The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA, is strengthening its investment in Nigeria’s digital economy with plans for a 100 megawatt hyperscale data centre campus in Lagos, designed to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other high performance digital services. The project is being developed through NSIA’s strategic investment in Kasi Cloud and is expected to provide critical computing infrastructure for Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
The planned facility is expected to provide the computing capacity required by businesses, government institutions, financial organisations and technology companies deploying AI and other data intensive applications. The development is also intended to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on foreign data centres by enabling more data to be stored and processed within the country, thereby strengthening data sovereignty and digital resilience.
The project forms part of NSIA’s broader strategy of using strategic technology investments to support long term economic development. The authority has described digital infrastructure as an important foundation for innovation and economic growth, while the Kasi campus is designed to support high density AI workloads and scalable cloud services. The facility is located in Lekki, Lagos, close to major submarine cable landing stations, giving it access to significant international connectivity.
The development comes as demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing continues to increase across Nigeria. Industry stakeholders say access to locally hosted computing infrastructure could help Nigerian businesses reduce reliance on offshore services, improve the security of sensitive data and create opportunities for innovation, digital jobs and technology investment. With the campus designed to scale to 100MW, the project is expected to become a major component of Nigeria’s emerging AI infrastructure and its ambition to become a leading digital economy in Africa
