Sunny Joseph Imohimi (FICA), a distinguished technology executive and digital transformation leader, has been named “ICT Innovator of the Year” at the 2026 Africa Beacon of ICT (BoICT) Awards. The prestigious ceremony, held in Lagos on May 30, brought together top stakeholders, innovators, and policymakers to celebrate excellence and impactful contributions to Africa’s ICT industry. Sunny, currently Regional Manager, MENA & Africa (EMEA) at Bitget, was honored for his pioneering work in fintech innovation, blockchain adoption, digital payments, mobility technology, and smart infrastructure development.

Sunny’s career reflects a track record of driving large-scale market expansion and ecosystem growth across Africa and the Middle East. At Bitget, he has accelerated P2P ecosystem development, merchant operations, and payment optimization, significantly advancing digital financial inclusion. His earlier tenure at Binance saw him spearhead operations across more than 40 African markets, including the rollout of Pay-in-Chat functionality, which enabled seamless digital transactions through integrated chat experiences. At Bolt, he led mobility expansion across eight Nigerian cities, achieving more than 10x business growth through strategic execution and product adoption.

Beyond fintech and mobility, Sunny is also advancing smart infrastructure innovation through Arkcess Technology Limited, a company focused on transforming estate living with digital access control and connected residential systems. His recognition at the BoICT Awards underscores his role as a visionary leader shaping Africa’s digital future.
