Meta has announced a new privacy feature that will allow users to start “incognito” conversations with its Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp. According to the company, the new feature is designed to give users more control over private interactions with artificial intelligence by ensuring that conversations are processed within a secure environment that cannot be accessed or viewed by others.

Meta explained that users will be able to activate the feature by tapping a new icon during one on one chats with the Meta AI assistant. The company added that the privacy focused capability will also be introduced on the standalone Meta AI application as part of its broader efforts to strengthen user trust and security around AI powered interactions.

The rollout is expected to begin gradually over the next few months across WhatsApp and the Meta AI app. Industry analysts say the move reflects increasing global concerns over data privacy and how artificial intelligence systems handle personal conversations and sensitive information. Technology companies are facing growing pressure from regulators and users alike to provide stronger safeguards as AI assistants become more integrated into everyday communication platforms.

Experts believe the feature could encourage wider adoption of AI chat services in emerging digital markets such as Nigeria, where WhatsApp remains one of the most widely used communication platforms for business, education, and personal interaction. Analysts also note that privacy focused AI features may become a key competitive advantage for technology firms as users increasingly demand secure and confidential digital experiences in an AI driven world.
