Moniepoint has acquired Orda, a cloud based restaurant management platform, in a strategic move to strengthen its ambition of embedding payments into everyday business operations. The deal will see Orda rebranded as Moniebook for Restaurants and integrated into Moniebook, Moniepoint’s business management platform, while continuing to operate independently until full integration is completed in the coming months.
The acquisition underscores Moniepoint’s transition from a payments processor into a full stack operating system for African businesses, offering tools that span sales, inventory, payments, and financial services. It also reflects a broader shift across Africa’s technology ecosystem, where mergers and acquisitions are increasingly shaping growth strategies. Earlier in the year, Flutterwave acquired Mono to strengthen its bank linked payment capabilities, highlighting the growing consolidation trend.
With Nigeria’s food service market projected to reach significant value in the coming years, Moniepoint is positioning itself at the heart of a sector already driving substantial transaction volumes on its platform. The company’s leadership notes that while restaurants remain one of Africa’s most dynamic economic segments, many still rely on manual systems and fragmented tools. Orda’s specialised software, already used by major restaurant chains including those under Eat’N’Go, provides the operational depth needed to manage menus, ingredients, and complex orders.
By integrating Orda’s capabilities, Moniepoint aims to unify sales and payment processes into a single system, eliminating inefficiencies and reducing reconciliation errors. The move will also enable automatic payment tracking, improved financial visibility for restaurant owners, and potential access to credit based on transaction data. As the integration progresses, with planned connections to delivery platforms like Chowdeck and Glovo, the company is laying the foundation for a broader ecosystem that could redefine how businesses across sectors operate in Africa.
