Co-creation HUB has opened registrations for GATEWAY, a five year initiative aimed at equipping 340,000 young Nigerians with digital skills and linking them to opportunities in the global gig economy. The programme combines structured training with access to physical hubs, devices, and internet connectivity, targeting what the organisation describes as a widening gap between rising gig opportunities and persistent unemployment.
According to CcHUB, the initiative is designed to help young people earn income both locally and internationally by leveraging digital platforms. The programme will focus on four high demand skill areas including digital marketing, graphic design, UI and UX design, and video production. Participants will undergo an assessment process before being placed into either a foundation track for beginners or a growth pathway for those with existing skills, ensuring a tailored learning experience.
The GATEWAY programme will run across 10 states, including Lagos State, Kano State, and Rivers State, with partner hubs providing access to laptops and internet services for participants who lack the necessary infrastructure. Training duration will vary, with beginners expected to spend between three to six months, while more experienced participants may complete the programme within a shorter period.
Beyond training, the initiative places strong emphasis on practical outcomes, requiring participants to build portfolios that can secure real jobs on gig platforms. It also prioritises inclusion, reserving 80 per cent of opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, and displaced youth. CcHUB says the goal is to position gig work not just as a temporary option, but as a sustainable career path capable of unlocking economic opportunities for Nigeria’s growing youth population.
