Circuits, Africa’s leading virtual cinema and digital entertainment platform, has announced that at least four Nollywood producers with content on its platform will receive additional payouts beyond their minimum guarantee and licensing fees. The company explained that these extra earnings are tied directly to the performance of the films on the platform and will continue for as long as the titles generate revenue. This approach marks a shift from one-off payments to a sustainable model where content creators share in the long-term success of their work.

The development signals a broader change in Africa’s digital entertainment industry, where filmmakers have often struggled to fully benefit from their creative efforts. Circuits’ decision to reward producers based on ongoing performance is seen as a move toward building a more transparent and sustainable creative economy. By keeping money in the hands of those who produce the content, the company is setting new standards for compensation, intellectual property protection, and reinvestment in African storytelling.

According to the platform, its unique content protection system ensures that African films are distributed globally while safeguarding creators’ intellectual property. Beyond upfront licensing, producers now stand to earn continuous returns as their films succeed on the platform. This model, Circuits noted, is rare within Africa’s streaming landscape and represents a significant step forward for the industry.

Since June 2025, Circuits has also given producers access to back-end data to validate sales reports and monitor detailed analytics in addition to monthly performance updates. The company believes this transparency strengthens trust with creators and sets a precedent for fair compensation in the digital age. With only eight months of operations post-launch, Circuits has recorded remarkable growth and is positioning itself as a pioneer in reshaping how African content is valued and monetised.
